A1 NDI Bi-Directional Converter

Thank you for purchasing and using this product. This guide will help you install, connect, and configure your A1 NDI Bi-Directional Converter for professional video transmission. To ensure your safety and avoid permanent damage to the device, please read this guide carefully before use.

The A1 is a versatile NDI bi-directional converter featuring professional HDMI and network interfaces.

Follow the steps below to connect your equipment:

  1. Connect Video Source: Use an HDMI 2.0 cable to connect your camera or video source to the HDMI IN port. If loop-out is needed, connect a monitor to the HDMI LOOP interface.
  2. Connect Network: Connect an Ethernet cable from your network switch/router to the LAN1 or LAN2 port.
  3. Power On: Connect the power adapter to the DC 12V port and toggle the Power Switch to turn on the device.

You can access the device management page using the official NDI Studio Monitor tool.

  1. Open Studio Monitor: Launch the Studio Monitor application from the NDI Tools suite on your computer.
  2. Locate Device: In the source list on the left, find the device starting with “A1” (e.g., A1-XXXXX).
  3. Enter Settings: Select the device and click the Settings icon (gear) in the bottom right corner.
  4. Login: The system will automatically redirect to the Web UI. Enter the default credentials to log in:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin

The A1 supports bi-directional operation.

  • Default Mode: The A1 enables NDI|HX (H.264/H.265) and Full NDI (NDI|HB) encoding by default; no manual activation is required.
  • 4K Encoding: If you need 4K encoding, you must switch the device to “Encode Only” mode.

You can decode NDI streams and output them via the HDMI OUT interface.

  1. In the Web UI decoding page, locate the target NDI source (e.g., camera or encoder) in the left source list.
  2. Click the Up Arrow icon (<↑>) next to the signal source.
  3. The device will immediately decode and output the signal via HDMI.

Method 2: Preset Window Output (Shortcut Mode)

Section titled “Method 2: Preset Window Output (Shortcut Mode)”
  1. Click the Plus icon (+) next to the signal source.
  2. Select a Preset Window Number (1-9) from the popup menu.
  3. Click the corresponding Preset Number Button in the top right of the software interface to switch the HDMI output to that source.

  1. Navigate to the “Upgrade” menu in the Web UI.
  2. Check if the latest firmware version is higher than the “Current Firmware Version”.
  3. Click “Select File”, choose the firmware file, and click “Upgrade”.
  4. Wait approx. 5 minutes. The device will restart automatically after the update.

If the device malfunctions or needs to be initialized, perform a factory reset. This will restore all network and password settings to default (admin/admin).

  • Method 1 (Web): Go to the management page and click “Restore Factory Settings” -> “Restore Factory”.
  • Method 2 (Hardware): Press and hold the Reset button on the front panel for 8 seconds.
